Consejo Hispano

Consejo Hispano is a comprehensive community-based organization serving Astoria, OR and the surrounding Lower Columbia region with specialized programs designed to empower Hispanic and Latinx families. Since its formal incorporation in 2006, the organization has expanded on decades of community work dating back to 1992, establishing itself as the primary provider of Spanish-language services in Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties. The organization delivers targeted programs across four core service areas: Education, Health, Financial Empowerment, and Advocacy & Civic Engagement. These initiatives are designed to address both immediate and long-term community needs while building pathways to greater self-sufficiency and economic stability. Consejo Hispano focuses on developing skills that enable Hispanic families to provide for themselves, build intergenerational wealth, and maintain meaningful connections to their culture. The organization serves youth, women, families, and immigrant communities throughout rural Oregon and Washington, including recent migrants and multi-generational residents. With a service area encompassing over 15,000 community members, Consejo Hispano collaborates regionally through initiatives like the Latinx Community Wealth Building Network and the Oregon Worker Relief Fund. The organization's strategic priorities center on community self-determination, economic empowerment, and cultural appreciation, working to ensure equitable access to affordable housing, education, healthcare, and civic engagement opportunities for all residents it serves.
