Functions of the Consulate General of Ecuador in New Jersey and Pennsylvania:
1. Promote and safeguard the interests of the country and its nationals in the areas of its jurisdiction.
2. Provide legal and social advice and assistance required by the nationals.
3. Ensure, within the limits imposed by the laws and regulations of the receiving State, the interests of minor nationals and other persons who lack full capacity.
4. Act as a notary, civil registry official, and in similar functions and exercise others of an administrative nature.
5. Issue passports and travel documents to nationals, and visas or appropriate documents to people who wish to travel to Colombia.
6. Support within its jurisdiction, the work of economic, tourist, scientific, cultural promotion, among others, in accordance with the guidelines of the corresponding Diplomatic Mission.
7. Render reports, in accordance with the regulations, to the corresponding Diplomatic Mission on the evolution of the migratory policy under its jurisdiction.
8. Submit reports, in accordance with the regulations, to the corresponding Diplomatic Mission, to the Directorate of Immigration, Consular Affairs and Citizen Services and to the Administrative and Financial Directorate on the evolution of the services of consular procedures, documentation, assistance and advice. provided to the community.
9. Submit to the Internal Legal Advisory Office the information related to conciliations and legal defense carried out in its jurisdiction, in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Revolving Fund are part, through its consular offices.
10. Transmit to the Administrative and Financial Directorate, the report of the contracts signed by the consulate.
11. Keep timely and reliable records on the number and characterization of the Colombian population found in its jurisdiction.
12. Keep the information systems updated regarding the number and type of consular procedures, documentation issued, assistance to nationals, detained Colombians and advice provided, among others.
13. Formulate and carry out activities to protect the fundamental rights of Ecuadorians abroad and exercise the pertinent actions before the authorities of the country where they are located, in accordance with the principles and norms of International Law.
14. Support the development and maintenance of the Integrated Institutional Management System.
15. The others that are assigned and that correspond to the nature of the dependency.
