El Centro Hispanoamericano

El Centro Hispanoamericano is a DOJ-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing comprehensive legal representation and immigration services to low-income immigrants in Plainfield, NJ and the surrounding central New Jersey region. Since 1984, El Centro has maintained a 40-year commitment to serving immigrant communities with professional legal advocacy before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration Court, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.

El Centro's legal team handles a wide range of immigration matters including family-based petitions, green card applications through adjustment of status and consular processing, waivers of inadmissibility, U visas for crime victims, T visas for human trafficking survivors, VAWA self-petitions for domestic violence survivors, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status requests, Temporary Protected Status, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and NACARA applications. The organization's DOJ-accredited representatives work under attorney supervision to ensure quality representation regardless of a client's country of origin.

Beyond legal services, El Centro Hispanoamericano offers educational programs including English as a Second Language courses, citizenship preparation, and literacy classes for Spanish speakers.
