About Hispanic League
The Hispanic League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Winston-Salem, NC, dedicated to improving the quality of life for Hispanic and Latino communities through comprehensive educational, cultural, and community programs. Since 1992, the organization has served as a vital liaison between Hispanic and non-Hispanic communities, fostering diversity awareness and multicultural understanding throughout the region.
The Hispanic League operates several signature initiatives addressing education, culture, and community needs. Their Education Programs include the Scholarship Program, which has awarded over 1.5 million dollars in scholarships to outstanding Hispanic students since 2000, with annual awards ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. The Middle School Achievers Program reaches approximately 600 ESL students across 10 local middle schools with motivational speakers and incentive awards. Additionally, the Parent Enrichment Program collaborates with the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System to provide weekly Spanish-language parental training sessions designed to empower families in supporting their children's education.
Cultural initiatives include the annual Fiesta Festival, the Triad's largest one-day Hispanic street festival attracting over 20,000 attendees, and the Zumbathon charity event. Community services encompass partnerships with over 80 community organizations, quarterly FaithAction ID Drives that have distributed over 1,800 community identification cards since 2016, the PyMEs program supporting Hispanic-owned small and medium-sized businesses, and educational information sessions covering topics such as the Affordable Care Act, DACA, and non-discrimination ordinances. Through these comprehensive programs, the Hispanic League continues to advance community inclusion, education, health, and multicultural understanding in Winston-Salem.
