Mexican American Bar Association

The Mexican American Bar Association serves the Los Angeles, CA legal community by providing essential professional networking, mentorship, and career development opportunities for Latino attorneys, law students, and judicial officers. Founded in 1957, MABA operates a comprehensive Lawyer Referral Information Service established in 1985 that connects the public with qualified legal professionals for confidential and prompt referrals. The organization supports professional advancement through its Judicial Externship Scholarship Program, Law Student Mentorship Program, and Vice-Chair leadership initiatives at Southern California law schools. MABA members benefit from continuing legal education through MCLE events held in late January and Supreme Court year-in-review panels addressing cases of significance to Latino communities. The association maintains active committees focused on judicial pipeline development and political endorsements, working to increase Latino representation on the bench. Additionally, MABA facilitates networking through regular events including installation galas, judges' nights, and attorney-student-judge mixers.
