Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association

The Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association (MHBA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the interests of Hispanic attorneys, judges, and legal professionals throughout Minneapolis and Minnesota. Since 1991, the MHBA has served as a unified force within the legal community, promoting professional growth and creating meaningful opportunities for Latino law students and attorneys across all practice areas and sectors. The organization represents approximately 400 members who work in diverse legal settings, including state judiciary, local and state government, private law firms, multinational corporations, and public interest organizations. The MHBA provides comprehensive professional development resources designed to help members expand their professional networks and advance their legal careers. These include a Law Student Mentorship Program launched in 2004, which connects aspiring attorneys with experienced legal professionals for guidance and community integration. The association also hosts continuing legal education events and networking opportunities that facilitate connections among members and foster professional collaboration. Beyond professional development, the MHBA maintains an active endowment fund established in 1998 in partnership with El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad and administered by The St. Paul Foundation. This fund supports law student interns working at nonprofit organizations serving the Latino community, demonstrating the organization's commitment to practical legal experience and community service. The MHBA maintains affiliations with the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), positioning Minneapolis members within a national network representing over 100,000 Hispanic legal professionals across the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories. Members serve on the HNBA Board of Directors, amplifying Minnesota's voice in national legal advocacy.
