About New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association

New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association was established in 1989 and continues its work to make health care more accessible to all New Mexicans. We negotiate medical discounts on behalf of the uninsured. We organize health fairs, free clinics, and provide mentoring opportunities that encourage students to consider a career in healthcare.

The New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association (NMHMA) is a private not-for-profit organization that has been in existence since 1989. Our mission is to make healthcare accessible and affordable to all New Mexicans. We do this by:

- Encouraging, mentoring, and assisting New Mexico students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare
- Providing scholarships to students that have made a commitment to provide healthcare in New Mexico
- Advocating for healthcare policy that increases access and affordability
- Providing charitable healthcare at community health fairs and other events
- Providing continuing medical education to healthcare professionals with an emphasis on conditions facing the medically uninsured and underserved
