Perinatal Awareness for Successful Outcomes

PASOs (Perinatal Awareness for Successful Outcomes) is a Columbia, SC-based organization dedicated to providing culturally responsive education and support services to Latino communities across South Carolina. Since its founding in 2005, PASOs has developed comprehensive programming focused on family health, early childhood development, and positive parenting skills. The organization delivers individualized guidance to participants seeking access to critical health and social resources, while simultaneously partnering with healthcare providers and social service agencies to enhance their capacity to serve Latino populations effectively.

PASOs operates an extensive network spanning 15 counties with direct services reaching families across 28 counties throughout South Carolina. The organization's evidence-based approach includes training Promotores—culturally competent community health workers who serve as trusted liaisons between Latino families and the healthcare system. Programming areas include preconception health strategies, pediatric literacy initiatives, HIV prevention and teen pregnancy education through the Cuidate Program, and emergency preparedness outreach. PASOs has earned recognition as a Best Practice for Health Connections by the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs, reflecting its commitment to quality and effectiveness. The organization's partnerships with institutions including the University of South Carolina Arnold School of Public Health and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health strengthen its capacity to address complex health disparities.
