The Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations Organization has the following main functions:
- Collaborate in the formulation of the guidelines, positions and strategies that regulate Mexico's actions before the United Nations and the organizations that make up its System, particularly those based in New York.
- Participate, on behalf of Mexico, in the meetings convened by the mechanisms of the United Nations Organization and specialized international organizations and mechanisms, for the sake of national interests, including the negotiation of treaties, conventions and international agreements that are of interest to Mexico. the country.
- Carry out the necessary actions to promote Mexico's initiatives before the United Nations Organization and specialized international organizations and mechanisms.
- Promote candidacies that are of interest to the Government of Mexico within the framework of the Organization.
- In consideration of the principles of good administration and budgetary austerity, participate in the mechanisms for establishing quotas and assigning the Organization's budget.
- Accredit and monitor the performance of the Mexican delegations that participate in the Organization's meetings.
