About Spanish American Committee
The Spanish American Committee in Cleveland, OH provides comprehensive social and economic services designed to help Hispanic and Latino individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency. Since 1966, SAC has delivered five core programs addressing the most pressing needs of low-income families: family support and bilingual childcare services, financial literacy education and training, housing education and guidance, employment training and services, and adult education opportunities including English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes and Ohio's only Spanish-language GED program. This integrated multi-service model ensures clients receive coordinated support across all life areas in one accessible location. SAC currently serves over 5,500 individuals and families annually, with more than 1,500 new clients each year. The organization operates the Little Footsteps Bilingual Child Enrichment Center, a five-star childcare facility offering Spanish-English bilingual programs on Cleveland's west side. Additional specialized offerings include the Latino Construction Program for career advancement, Mi Casa Housing Program (HUD-certified), and the Families First Social Services Program providing financial counseling, budgeting assistance, first-time homebuyer education, and foreclosure prevention. As the longest-operating Hispanic/Latino social services agency in Ohio, SAC maintains partnerships with United Way, UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza), the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, the Cuyahoga County Public Library, and multiple community organizations. These collaborations strengthen SAC's capacity to deliver culturally responsive services that address housing stability, workforce development, and family strengthening throughout greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
